Your information
Privacy Policy
1. Who operates alphaPDF
Marc Didavi trading as Maskia is responsible for alphaPDF. The business and service address is 36 Hamilton Road, Ealing, W5 2EH, United Kingdom. Privacy questions can be sent to marc@maskia.co.
2. Information processed on your device
The extension processes PDF contents, annotations, attachments, filenames, document metadata and generated output locally in Chrome. Documents and editable drafts stay in the extension’s local storage until you delete them. Removing the extension or clearing browser data can remove this local data.
If you choose to import a PDF from a website, the extension processes the URL and response locally. Chrome may include your existing website cookies when retrieving an authenticated PDF. Those cookies and PDF contents are not sent to Maskia.
English OCR runs entirely on-device using prepackaged models. If you choose to run OCR in other supported languages, alphaPDF downloads the requested language model on demand from jsDelivr and stores it in your browser’s local IndexedDB cache. You can delete downloaded models at any time in Settings. Model downloads receive only the requested language files; your PDF contents are never sent to jsDelivr or any third party.
3. Information sent to our services
- Your purchase email, product entitlement, Stripe identifiers, entitlement status, activation or recovery token and limited installation metadata are processed to fulfil and maintain your licence.
- Your IP address may be processed transiently by Cloudflare. We store only a one-way hash for short-lived abuse prevention.
- Infrastructure providers may retain limited request and error logs for security and reliability.
4. Service providers
We use Cloudflare for backend hosting and database services; Stripe and Link for merchant-of-record checkout, payment, fraud prevention, applicable transaction taxes, receipts and transaction support; Namecheap PrivateEmail for transactional licence email; and jsDelivr (ProspectOne) as a content delivery network for optional, on-demand OCR language model downloads. When downloading an OCR model, your IP address and requested model file path are processed by jsDelivr under its privacy policy. They process only the information needed to provide those services under their own terms and privacy notices.
5. Why we process this information
We process purchase and licence information to perform our contract with you. We process limited security and operational data for legitimate interests in preventing abuse, maintaining reliability and complying with law. We do not sell personal information or use extension data for personalised advertising.
6. Retention
Local documents remain until you delete them or remove the extension. Licence and transaction records are retained while an entitlement is active and afterwards where reasonably required for recovery, accounting, fraud prevention, disputes and legal obligations. Activation tokens expire after one hour and recovery codes after 15 minutes.
7. Your choices and rights
You can clear local documents, disable optional website access, deactivate an installation and uninstall alphaPDF. Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability by emailing marc@maskia.co. Some transaction records may need to be retained by law.
8. International processing and security
Our providers may process information outside the UK using their published transfer safeguards. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. No system is completely secure, so keep recovery codes and device access protected.
9. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Our use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use it only to provide or improve alphaPDF’s user-facing PDF features, security and reliability.
10. Children and changes
alphaPDF is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy when the product or law changes and will publish a new effective date here.
